“Wit’s End” (Domino)
アメリカ人シンガーソングライター、Cass McCombsによるアルタナティブ・ロックとアーバン・フォークの間を行き来するようなアルバム、”Wit’s End”から。
Wit’s End, an album that fluctuates between alternative rock and urban folk, heralds an indefinable maturity for unconventional American singer-songwriter Cass McCombs.
Singer-songwriter Cass McCombs is in the process of creating a body of work that exists largely off the beaten track. His debut EP Not the Way (2002) was followed in 2003 by the critically-acclaimed album entitled simply A. His songs, often quite serious in tone, bear witness to a considerable talent. His 2005 album Prefection was essentially personal, albeit with a sound that leaned rather more toward pop. On 2007’s Dropping The Writ and 2009’s Catacombs, he continued to embrace a nostalgic feel.
Cass McCombs was born in Concord, California in 1977. Following in the footsteps of the beat generation, his writing and playing is clearly marked by his nomadic existence. Unconventional without actually becoming marginalised, Cass McCombs composes nostalgia-tinted songs that transcend fashions and conventional standards.
