Passionate and sincere, the debut album from this British quartet delivers an inspired psychedelic blend of rock and electro.
Featured on the pioneering French compilation Sisters, these four London-based Scots could well end up filling the gap left by the brilliant, much-missed Beta Band.
Having supported Metronomy on tour in France and the UK, they’ve now attained bill-topping status in their own right.
They’ve often been labeled “electropop”, though this doesn’t really do justice to the wide range of sounds and instruments on their album.
Their 80s pop influences are augmented by an eclectic array of sonic textures drawing on world music, smoothly and skilfully integrating sounds from all around the world: a subtle evocation of the Middle East here, a dash of Afropop there, rounded off with a sprinkling of tropical rhythms.
