The Golden Record
モントリオール出身の女性シンガーLaurel Sprengelmeyer とArcade Fire のRichard Reed Parryとの共同プロデュースによるLITTLE SCREAMのデビューアルバム。美しい声とブルー・フォーク調のアレンジ。
Co-produced with Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire, the debut album from this Montreal-based chanteuse is a revelation, allowing her sublime voice to float delicately over blues-folk arrangements.
As her nickname suggests, Little Scream is full of contradictions – yet ultimately, entirely satisfying.
Born in Iowa, she grew up along the Mississippi River as Laurel Sprengelmeyer, taking violin and piano lessons as a child.
Little Scream took her own sweet time emerging onto the Montreal music scene, making fleeting onstage appearances alongside such luminaries as Owen, Atlas Sound, Etoiles, Sea and Cake and Handsome Furs only to disappear again. All the while, she was gradually developing the sonic treatments she would eventually use to create her debut: The Golden Record.
Co-produced with Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre), The Golden Record features Little Scream on guitar, vocals, violin, and keyboard.
In typical Montreal style, it also showcases a range of local talent including Richard Parry, Mike Fuerstack (Snailhouse), Becky Foon (Silver Mt. Zion), Patty McGee (Stars) and Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre).
Aaron Dessner from The National plays guitar on “The Heron And The Fox”.
The cover artwork for The Golden Record is an original oil painting by Little Scream. The album was released in spring 2011.
