Biographie :
Real Estate s’est formé dans le New Jersey autour du chanteur et guitariste Martin Courtney, du guitariste Matt Mondanile, du bassiste Alex Bleeker et du batteur Etienne Pierre Duguay en 2008. En 2011 Jackson Pollis a remplacé Etienne à la batteries et Jonah Maurer a rejoint le groupe en s’installant aux claviers.
Après la sortie de quelques singles sur différents labels, le premier album du groupe a été acclamé par la critique. La tournée qui a suivit a permi au groupe de se joindre à d’autres formations comme Girls, Kurt Vile, Woods et Deerhunter. En 2010 Real Estate a joué au festival organisé par le magasine musical Pitchfork ainsi qu’au festival Primavera de Barcelone. En 2012 Real Estate s’est produit pendant le fameux festival Californien Coachella.
Signé depuis 2011 chez Domino Recording, le groupe en profite pour signer son deuxième album, Days, sorti en Octobre 2011.

Real Estate was formed in Ridgewood, New Jersey by singer/guitarist Martin Courtney, guitarist Matt Mondanile (Ducktails), bassist Alex Bleeker (of Alex Bleeker and the Freaks), and drummer Etienne Pierre Duguay (of Predator Vision) in 2008. In 2011 Jackson Pollis replaced Etienne on drums and Jonah Maurer joined the band on keys and guitar.
After issuing singles on the Underwater Peoples and Woodsist labels, the band’s 2009 self-titled debut received critical acclaim. Tours followed supporting acts such as Girls, Kurt Vile, Woods, and Deerhunter. In 2010, Real Estate performed at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. In 2012, Real Estate performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.
In 2011, Real Estate signed with the Domino Recording Company. In a recent interview with Groove Guide in New Zealand the band was quoted as saying “They really let you get on with your own thing” in regards to their change to Domino Recording Company. The group issued their sophomore record, Days, on October 18, 2011.
